Lift Communications Enhances Accessibility at Tremont Avenue Station with ADA-Compliant Intercom Systems

[NY, NY] – [2/27/2024] – Lift Communications (Aka: LiftComm) is proud to announce the successful installation of advanced intercom systems at Tremont Avenue station in New York City, ensuring full compliance with ADA standards and the ASME A17.1/CSA B44-2019 Safety Code for Elevators.

Supporting the MTA’s Accessibility Initiative

As part of the MTA's 2020–2024 Capital Program, Tremont Avenue station recently underwent significant renovations, including the addition of two elevators providing access from the southern fare control area to the platforms. An elevator was installed at the southeast corner of Echo Place and Grand Concourse to enhance accessibility for all passengers. The elevators were officially opened on February 27, 2024, marking a significant step forward in making the station ADA-compliant.

Lift Comm played a crucial role in this transformation by integrating its state-of-the-art intercom systems into the station’s new elevators. These systems are designed to provide reliable two-way communication, especially in emergencies, ensuring that all passengers, including those with disabilities, can access help whenever needed.

Innovative Technology for Safety and Accessibility

With the new intercom systems, LiftComm is helping the MTA ensure that Tremont Avenue station meets the latest safety and accessibility standards. Key features of the installation include:

• 24/7 Emergency Communication: Providing instant access to emergency services at the touch of a button.

• Universal Accessibility: Designed for passengers with hearing, speech, or mobility impairments.

• Durable and Reliable: Engineered to function seamlessly under all conditions, including power outages.

“LiftComm is committed to making public transportation safer and more accessible for everyone. The work we’ve done at Tremont Avenue station is a testament to our dedication to supporting the MTA’s efforts to modernize New York City’s transit system,” said Eric Schnabolk, President of LiftComm. “Our intercom systems are designed to be there when it counts, ensuring every passenger can access help when they need it.”
